Brock Davis

I saw an interesting article on fastco, about the challenger disaster recreated from cauliflower. it's the creation of minneapolis's brock davis, who always seems to be up to something wildly imaginative. lots of other food art on his flickr stream, but my fav is the snoutlet. hands down.

what does that say?

a cool project by craig goldham. via qbn.

The HAND.WRITTEN.LETTER.PROJECT was after a conversation about how personal a letter can be: a fact that is currently drowning in a tide of depersonalisation, with junk mail and automated correspondence.

JR

we watched a TED Talk this morning at work. Inspiring to say the least. French street artist, JR, makes a wish to use art to turn the world inside out. I love the simplicity: paper, glue, b&w photos of people being themselves. It pairs really nicely with the extravagant and detailed application to landscapes all over the world. The trains are my favorite, the movement makes it more human.

re:active

a second set of billboards from the re:active project are up in portland, check it out. re:active is a great non-profit, lead by michael etter who i had the pleasure of working with (and drawing precarious stick figures with...long story) while freelancing at ziba. the mission of re:active is to inspire and support youth voices through creative programs as a way to introduce students to design thinking and creative careers. pretty inspiring.

blazer mania

I'm excited to be a part of Compound Gallery's next group show, Blazer Mania: Art inspired by the Portland Trail Blazers. When Nate Tabor, the show curator, asked me to contribute I have to admit I did a "Who, me?! Really?" All shock aside, it was great fun to design something regional for my new city and I'm honored to be a part of the show list. If you're in Portland, the show opens this Thursday and will hang until January 31st, check it out. Thanks Nate + Compound Gallery!

My poster, "Make it Rain," is one color letterpressed (by Jamie) on Letra paper.
