1957

my dad has been collecting and restoring 1957 buicks for decades. his most recent project was to restore a caballero station wagon with his friend dave, his first street rod. they sold it at an auction in arizona earlier this month and i was lucky enough to see it finished before it shipped.

trekkie

i have a cruiser bike, which is great, except that we live on top of a giant hill. just out of curiosity, i perused the Trek site last night and found a bike named Earl that has a built in bottle opener. now that, is functionality.

lan su chinese garden

we went to lan su last weekend on the most beautiful, sunny spring day. and as J said, "it was fucking magic." a seriously amazing place so well designed that it hurt my head to think about the planning that went into it. we stopped at the tea house on our way out and celebrated easter a day early with our marble tea egg and view overlooking the gardens. i kinda want to live there. and on top of that, our friend mette designed the lovely identity, bonus!

IKEA

Made an airport pick up yesterday (welcome to Portland Jess!) and made the obligatory stop along the way at the Swedish haven. I'm way into their food department, clean and simple branding/packaging with bright, happy colors that make it nearly impossible to pass by as you're exiting the building (or if you're accompanied by children or geeky designers with an affinity for cheap frozen yogurt). Took some quick snaps, some blurry as I tried to balance my new cast iron pot in one hand, iphone in the other.

hand-eye supply

jon and i made a pit stop to hand-eye supply last night before happy hour. and glory be, i found the 33 bottles of beer journal i had been looking for (however, not in time for j's xmas stocking). the store is a hidden gem in chinatown, plus they host a speaker series. put it on your list folks.

tot-a-lot

Such a great idea for a surprisingly untapped market, twins. It could be really cool if they started doing twin series similar to Camper shoes, which are tempting my impulse buy. by WESEMUA via dieline

sweet vinegar

Love this redesign by MayDay via dieline. Would not mind tasting the products either.
